Is Yoga Spritual? And what is this “Spirituality” you speak of?
Yes! Well, spiritual means your relationship with yourself, God and the Universe or whichever higher power you believe in. Also, as the word suggests, Spirituality suggests we have a spirit, like many religions, so it honors trying to connect with your own spirit or higher self as it is sometimes called. Spirituality seeks answers to questions like: Do you love yourself? Are you aware of the negative thoughts or self perceptions in your head? What traits can you improve on as a human being? Are you patient, kind, forgiving, loving or do you just preach about those things? Spirituality is a process of growing, questioning your faith and improving yourself. A true spiritual person recognizes the need for peace within themselves so that they can be a healing force unto the rest of the world. Can you be spiritual and religious at the same time? Absolutely! Go for it!
What does Namaste mean?
When we say Namaste, we honor the fact that God is within each and every one of us. It also honors the fact that we are all connected and all part of the same energy that circulates throughout the universe. Since we are all a part of the same energy that initiated from the same source at one point, we all need to look out for each other. It honors the place inside that when you quiet your mind to a grinding halt, find peace, happiness & joy within. So have fun, help others and conserve the Earth.
