Chromium is an essential trace mineral. This means it is important for proper health but in smaller amounts than minerals like sodium or potassium. There is much research linking a deficiency in chromium to health problems like insulin resistance, which basically leads to diabetes. There is also strong evidence that chromium is higher in organic produce, which often times is the same price if not less than regular produce.
